New national minimum wage rates come into effect on 1st October 2011. Here are the new rates:
- The adult rate of the national minimum wage (for workers aged 21 and over) will increase from £5.93 to £6.08 per hour.
- The development rate (for workers aged 18 to 20 inclusive) will increase from £4.92 to £4.98 per hour.
- The development rate 16 and 17 year olds will increase from £3.64 to £3.68 per hour.
- The minimum wage for apprentices who are either under 19 or in the first year of apprenticeship will increase from £2.50 to £2.60 per hour.
